LINE, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Where Should Your AI Live? Breaking down 'AI Friendliness' into three things, comparing four platforms with six indicators, and adding actual changes from the first half of 2026.

You want AI to help you manage groups, organize discussions, act as a course assistant, or collect daily conversations from chat rooms into a knowledge base. The first problem that usually blocks you is: where should AI live? Most people ask 'which one is most suitable for AI,' but this question actually has no answer because the strengths of the four platforms lie in completely different areas. This article breaks down 'AI Friendliness' into three unrelated capabilities, compares them with six indicators, and adds actual changes from the first half of 2026 for these four platforms, finally giving you a set of judgment questions and a test prompt that you can directly copy.

You asked the wrong question

I'll start with the conclusion: the question 'which communication software is most suitable for AI' has an answer that depends on what you want AI to do.

The same sentence asked in a different way becomes clear. If you want AI to block scam messages in a group, it's different from wanting AI to organize weekly course discussions into a FAQ. The former requires AI to live within the platform and have the authority to delete messages; the latter only needs AI to read the content, and it can live anywhere.

The strengths of the four platforms lie in different positions.

LINE
Taiwan Entrance

The advantage is its fit with the existing habits of Taiwan users, making it suitable for audience acquisition, announcements, and lecture entry points. There is no historical retrieval endpoint, making it unsuitable as an Agent read-write hub.

Telegram
AI Teaching Assistant / Fraud Prevention MVP

The Bot API covers a wide range, and in 2026, it will also include native AI capabilities. It is suitable for quick online validation, but the cost is that you have to develop it yourself.

Discord
Official course community base

Channels, roles, and permissions are already divided, and AI can enter with existing data classification. It is suitable for class division, course division, and long-term learning communities.

Slack
Agent workflow hub

It was originally a workbench, and official Agents operate directly within it. It is suitable for enterprise teams and high-priced coaching.

Putting these four on one line for a total score, Slack would probably win. However, if your students do not use Slack, that score won't help you, because the cost of students installing a new software will offset the functional advantages. Therefore, the first thing is to split the 'AI friendliness.'

AI friendliness is actually three things

'AI function integration,' 'AI memberization,' and 'Agent console support' are three different things, and mixing them together will result in an average score.

Does the platform itself or its ecosystem have existing AI tools that can be used directly, such as summarization, search, classification, and workflows. These you do not need to develop.

Why must it be split Because a platform can have all conditions met in one aspect but completely unsupported in another. LINE has no role permission model, but its entry threshold is the lowest for Taiwanese users. Telegram's Bot API covers the widest range, but the cost is that everything has to be written from scratch. Discord's permission structure is the most complete, but you have to first ask students to register a software they don't usually use. When these three things are mixed together, you'll only get an average, and the average can't help you make a decision.

2026 mid-year, the dividing line has moved

This comparison was originally compiled in May 2026. Three months later, rechecking showed that all four platforms had updates, with two of them changing significantly enough to affect the choice.

More importantly, the dimensions of comparison have changed. Previously, it was about 'what a bot can do,' but now you need to compare one more thing: Whether the official AI Agent can enter.

The biggest change is Telegram

Telegram has added native AI capabilities throughout 2026, clearly heading towards the direction of an 'AI bot platform.'

  • Native AI Summary and AI Editor Can summarize long channel posts, also can proofread, translate, and rewrite tone, provided by Cocoon
  • 2026-05 Guest Bots and Bot-to-Bot AI bot can be @username directly called in. Guest Bot can only see the message that marks it and its replies, while bots that have joined the group and turned off Privacy Mode or obtained administrator permissions have full real-time context
  • 2026-06 Bot API 10.1 Adding Rich Messages and sendRichMessageDraft. The official positioning is to stream AI-generated responses
  • 2026-07 Bot API 10.2 Adding Communities, ephemeral messages visible only to specific people within groups

In May, saying that Telegram's API was 'very free and suitable for MVP' was still correct, but it wasn't said clearly enough. It is now clearly moving towards a multi-Agent interaction platform.

Slack's lead has changed reasons

In May, saying that Slack's 'MCP Server was mature' was correct. After verification, it should be stated more precisely: Slack MCP Server is a product officially launched and hosted by Slack, officially released on February 17, 2026, with endpoint https://mcp.slack.com/mcp. The official documentation does not mark it as beta or experimental.

It can search messages, files, users, read channels and threads, send messages, create channels, add reactions, read and write Canvas, all through Slack App identity and existing OAuth permission governance. Officially listed existing clients include Claude.ai, Claude Code, Perplexity, and Cursor, so you don't need to set up your own server to connect.

One limitation needs to be known first Slack MCP Server can only be used by apps listed on Marketplace or internal organization apps, unlisted apps cannot use it.

More critical than MCP is this: Slack is the only platform in this round of verification that has three official AI Agent entry methods. The depth of these three is different, and they need to be viewed separately for accuracy.

Additionally, Slack will release a new version of Slackbot in March 2026, positioning it as an integrated, context-aware personal AI agent.

Looking at the other three platforms in reverse, this round of verification found no official integration with Anthropic or OpenAI for Discord, Telegram, or LINE. Connecting them requires building it yourself with an API. This is what the platform boundary means. Development difficulty was already one gap; now there is another: whether an official Agent has a ready-made way to join the platform.

Discord has one place that is easy to write incorrectly.

In Discord's developer change log from March 2026, the Developer Portal and the document MCP were listed. This is the official MCP, but it is for AI development tools to query Discord developer documents, not for Claude or Codex to read and write your server chat content. These two things are often confused.

This round of verification did not find an official chat data MCP Server for Discord. To read chat content, you still have to build it yourself through the Bot API. Additionally, two more things need to be addressed:

  • Discord has an official In-Channel Conversation Summaries, but it is still marked as experiment as of July 2026 and is only available in a few servers.
  • Starting from June 2026, apps with over 10,000 users will need to undergo annual review to access sensitive data such as Message Content. Small-scale course community bots are unaffected, but the governance cost for large Agent apps has increased

LINE has native AI, but it depends on region and frequency

The May version described LINE's AI functionality as having low integration. After verification, two things need to be added:

  • The Japanese version has 'Chat Room Agent i', which can analyze recent conversations, suggest replies and topics, rewrite tone, and correct spelling errors. According to the Japanese official guide, the feature is released in phases, with free daily 3 times, LYP Premium daily 10 times, and AI unlimited plan unlimited times. The current verification found the Japanese official guide, which does not mean Taiwan users have it now
  • Some LINE communities already have generative AI message summaries, but the official clearly stated it only applies to some communities, without public scope, and cannot summarize discussion thread content

LINE Taiwan announced in October 2025 that 'AI Conversation Assistant' would be introduced in the first quarter of 2026 with official account segmentation plus OA Plus, and mentioned that internally they used MCP technology to develop proxy robots. Verification found that there has been no official announcement of 'already officially launched', and no publicly available LINE MCP Server for external Agents. On the Messaging API side, the main update on July 1, 2026, is Rich Menu performance statistics

A common misunderstanding LINE official accounts can be added to groups, receive new messages webhook after joining, and reply or push messages. Its limitations are in three specific areas: no endpoint for retrieving historical messages, no role permission model, and only one official account can be in each group at the same time. Therefore, it can act as a visible bot, but to be an 'Agent with full member permissions and historical context' it lacks conditions

The roles of the four platforms within the AI office

The first two sections compared capabilities, and this section compares positioning. If you think of the entire workflow as an office, these four platforms can coexist, each occupying a position.

LINE

Handles public traffic, announcements, lecture entrances, and form-based routing in Taiwan. Important issues are directed to forms, followed by Agent-assisted organization. Because there is no historical retrieval endpoint, it is unsuitable as a long-term repository for complete chat histories.

Automation Group Entrance

Telegram

Send group messages, group entry events, and fraud prevention judgments to the Agent backend. The strengths are Bot API scope and 2026 AI bot capabilities, and the goal is to exchange for course structure and public friendliness.

Course Community Data Repository

Discord

Channels, roles, and forums are directly data categories. The Agent can organize conversations by course, topic, and class regularly, precipitating into FAQs, tasks, and knowledge cards.

Agent workflow hub

Slack

Official MCP, Claude Tag, Codex, ChatGPT, and Slackbot are all here. Suitable for high-priced coaching, corporate courses, and internal teams.

The focus is on step five. The first four steps are almost the same for everyone, differences start from step five. What you choose for step five depends on how deep you want the AI to go in step six.

If you don't want to develop a bot, there is another route

Many people get stuck at 'I don't have the ability to develop a bot' and stop there. In fact, there are two routes, and you can combine them.

Route A

Platform-native bot

AI lives directly in Telegram, Discord, or Slack, reacting instantly like a group member.

Suitable for Instant fraud prevention, group verification, message deletion, AI assistant instant replies, any scenario requiring second-level response.
What it requires Development, deployment, maintenance, and also handling permissions and cybersecurity.
Platform selection Telegram's Bot API has the fewest steps from zero to being operational; Discord is suitable for scenarios requiring role-based layers; Slack is suitable for companies already using Slack.
Route B

Agent office control console

Codex, Claude Code, Cowork read content from each platform, organize it into tasks, summaries, and knowledge bases, and then write back as needed.

Suitable for AI office, post-class organization, strategy sedimentation, and teaching assistant workflow. It can judge across files, knowledge bases, and chats.
What it requires The ability for real-time response is relatively weak, and when there is no stable connector, it requires semi-automated export.
Platform selection Slack has an official MCP and official Agent, making it the only platform that does not require coding to connect. Telegram and Discord require connection through bots or export, and LINE is suitable as an entry point.
The most convenient approach in the midterm (hybrid route)

A lightweight bot in the group for gatekeeping, and the backend Agent for deep organization

Balancing real-time management and deep analysis, it best meets the practical needs of human-machine co-management.

Tool combination: LINE intake → Telegram or Discord group management (lightweight bot) → Codex or Claude Code back-end organization → Obsidian or Notion knowledge base

Why use this approach You don't need to develop a complete system at once. You can start by adding a Telegram bot to LINE first, and then gradually add the Agent backend.

Note that 'Codex directly connecting to Slack' is indeed an official capability, marked @Codex can be used. However, for the same task in Discord, Telegram, and LINE, no official corresponding solutions were found in this round of verification. For those three platforms, connecting Codex or Claude still requires you to write code to connect the API.

Your first step

Three questions, decide which platform you should move to today.

Question 01 Do you need real-time response, or post-processing?

If you need real-time (anti-scams, group verification, instant replies), take route A, prioritize Telegram or Discord. If you just need post-processing (summaries, FAQs, tasks), take route B, you don't need to switch platforms.

Question 02 Where are your people already?

If your people are already on LINE, don't rush to move, keep LINE as the entry point, and open another place for deep interaction. If your team is already on Slack, just use Slack, it's the only platform among the four that doesn't require coding to integrate the official Agent.

Question 03 Do you want to write code?

Completely no coding: LINE's Agent backend for managing new members. Willing to write a little: add a Telegram bot, it's the fastest way from zero to working. If you want to build a complete course community: directly open Discord, set up the structure first.

The minimum test you can do today

Before deciding whether to switch platforms or make a bot, spend an afternoon doing this test. It requires no development and will tell you the answer.

Step 1: Choose a safe group

Pick a group that doesn't have customer lists, quotes, contracts, or personal information. Course discussion groups, reading groups, or casual chat groups are fine. Don't use customer service groups or internal decision-making groups.

Step 2: Export and clean up

Export the conversation from the last one to two weeks (Telegram, Discord, and Slack all have official export functions, LINE can use the chatroom's 'Send Conversation History'). After exporting, review it yourself, delete messages containing phone numbers, emails, addresses, ID numbers, or amounts. This step cannot be skipped.

Step 3: Paste this prompt

Send the cleaned-up file to Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI you have on hand, with this prompt:

You are my community organizer assistant. Below is the conversation history I exported from the group. Please organize it into three sections: 1. FAQ for repeated questions Pick out questions that have been asked more than twice, merge them into one question, attach the best answer that appeared in the group. If there are conflicting answers for the same question, mark it as 'needs confirmation'. 2. Unresolved questions Questions that were asked but not answered, or answers that are clearly incomplete, are listed. 3. Topics that should be written as documents If the same topic is discussed repeatedly, it should become a fixed document. List the topic and the reason. Rules: - Only use content that appears in the conversation. Do not add your own knowledge. - Do not mention any names. Use 'Student A' and 'Student B' instead. - Each item should indicate which day's conversation it comes from.

Step 4: Review the results to decide on the next step

This is the key to judgment. After running the process, compare the following three situations:
